Experience Days
We are not open to the public so you get an exclusive experience when you choose The Coniston Falconry Centre.
We take up to a maximum of 6 people on our experience day so you can be sure your day will be personal and intimate.
Designed to be as hands on as possible you will be handling and flying the birds within an hour of arriving at the centre.
When you choose one of our experience days you are guaranteed top level teaching with an experienced instructor.
Your instructor will go into physiology, psychology and biology of the birds as well as weight management, captive breeding and artificial insemmination and much more.
Our experience days make perfect gifts for birthdays or Christmas.
Half Day Experience
On arrival at hotel enjoy a bacon sandwich before being welcomed at the Falconry Centre at 10.00AM, then after an introduction to the birds it will be straight out into the fields and woods where each guest will be flying a variety of hawks, buzzards or owls.
As the day progresses your host will be engaging you with information about the birds characteristics and personalities, as well as general information on falconry and birds of prey.
The cost of an half day experience is: £65 per person.
Full Day Experience
After bacon sandwich and tea, coffee at the hotel make your way to the falconry barn we will begin the day with a brief history of falconry, introduction to the birds and then a question and answer session.
We will then move on to flying the birds, where each guest will handle and fly birds throughout the morning.
At lunch time you will make the short drive to The Coniston Hotel where you will enjoy homemade soup, sandwiches and real chips before heading back to the falconry centre for the afternoon session.
In the afternoon you will spend more time flying a variety of birds and building your falconry skills.
Depending on conditions we can take a walk through the woodland and have the birds fly to and from the trees to your glove.
Finally we will return to the centre which will give you time to ask any last minute questions before making your way home.
The cost of a full day experience is: £110 per person and includes lunch.
