Hunting Days
Falconry has been used for hunting for centuries and we can offer you the chance to spend a day hunting on the Coniston Estate.
On arrival at The Coniston Hotel around 9.00am you will be able to enjoy a complimentary bacon sandwich and cup of tea, before heading off to the falconry barn for around 9.30am.
On arrival at the barn the falconer will greet you and will then give you a guided tour of the centre and an introduction to the birds we keep. He will also run through some basic bird handling and safety issues for the day.
It will then be off onto the estate to witness the hawks at their most spectacular! The emphasis of the morning will be on interaction between you and the hawks, in depth information on falconry techniques and bird handling, as well as raptor biology, physiology and psycholog, hunting strategies of wild raptors and captive breeding. The morning hunting trip will be spent in pursuit of pheasant with our hawks.
After a hot lunch back at our award winning restuarant, the afternoon will be spent on different section of the estate where you will see the hawk pit their wits against their age old quarry - the rabbit.
Our rabbit warrens are situated in the middle of open ground, ensuring, with the help of our ferrets, some long and exciting flights.
The day draws to a close around 4.30pm.
Limited dates are available to ensure that the estate is not over pursued.
The cost of a hunting day is: £170 per person to include lunch
